Abstract
1379791 Erecting overhead cables NIPPON KOKUYU TETSUDO 29 Feb 1972 [11 March 1971 (3)] 9307/72 Heading H2C An overhead catenary and trolley wire are installed simultaneously from a railway car 1 under a tension of 1,000-1,500 kg., thereby eliminating the need for tensioning after installation. Catenary 12 and trolley 13 wires are fed from drums 33, 34 to the tensioning means 9 which comprises (see Figs. 7-9, not shown) sets of opposed rubber rollers 38, the rollers in each row being coupled by gears (40) and one of each pairs of rows (through which pass cables 12, 13) being connected to an electromagnetic brake which controls the final tension in the wires. The free ends of the wires are connected to post 35. As the car moves forward from right to left (Fig. 3) an articulated detector 7 closes an electrical circuit on touching a suspending hook 42 actuating a control device which in turn operates a hanger supplying unit 10 (see Figs. 8 and 9, not shown) which supplies hangers as at 43, 43a when the car is a specified distance from the hook. As, the car advances further, a hanging device 11 is automatically put into operation. The device 11 consists of an arm 45 linked to arm 62 which is horizontally and vertically pivoted. To the arm 45 are fitted vertically-pivoted rollers 73, 73a and 74, 74a. The rollers 73, 73a, together with pulleys 44a and 44b at their lower ends are coaxially mounted within rollers 74, 74a and spring-loaded to project as shown. The arm 62 is swung horizontally, wires 12, 13 catching against the rollers, and then vertically to a height corresponding to the hook 42. This height is determined by the height to which arm 7 is raised. The wire 13 is caught on pulleys 44c, 44b, retracting rollers 73, 73a, as shown in the dotted part of the Figure, and freeing wire 12 now on rollers 44, 44a. In the raised position, the span 45 is inclined from the horizontal as viewed both from the side and behind the car (see Fig. 19, not shown). As the car moves forward, therefore, the wire is automatically caught on the hook 42 as required. The hanging device then retracts.
