Abstract

1378923 Scouring cleansers containing coloured particles COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 21 Jan 1972 [25 Jan 1971] 3026/72 Heading C5D A coloured solid particle for incorporation in scouring cleansers comprises (A) an inorganic bromide bleach activator, (B) a water-dispersible bleach-stable pigment, (C) a water-soluble pigment binder and extender and (D) a watersoluble, inert particulate carrier. (A) is sodium bromide, lithium bromide, potassium bromide or a mixture thereof. (C) is propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol 300 or propylene glycol phenol ether. (D) is NaCl, KCl, Na 2 SO 4 or a mixture thereof. The particles should have a size of 0À15 mm. to 2À0 mm. (A) and (D) are dry blended, the pigment (B) added and mixed with (A) and (D), (C) is then added and the mixture is blended until a uniform coating of the particles of conglomerates is obtained. The scouring cleansers contain (1) an anionic, nonionic, cationic or amphoteric detergent, (2) a builder, (3) an abrasive and (4) bleach. The bleach (4) is of the hypohalite liberating type and may be (i) inorganic, e.g. lithium hypochlorite, lithium hypobromite, calcium hypochlorite and brominated or chlorinated trisodium phosphate or (ii) organic, e.g. heterocyclic N-bromo- and N-chloro-imides such as trichlorocyanuric acid and salts thereof.
