Abstract

1378411 Conveying and eviscerating poultry COPE WHELON & CO Ltd 27 June 1973 [5 April 1972] 15693/72 Heading A2U A carrier for mounting poultry on a conveyor comprises (a) means for holding the bird on the carrier and (b) means for mounting the carrier on a conveyor such that movement of the bird independently of the conveyor is substantially prevented. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the bird is clamped on stainless steel plate 1 by clamps 2 and 3. In Fig. 2, number of carriers 1, according to the invention are mounted on conveyor 5 and conveyed past a neck-slitting tool 7, a vent-cutting tool 9 for automatically cutting out an orifice adjacent the vent of the bird, a vent-slitting tool 14 and an eviscerating station 16.
