Abstract

1377387 Ventilators ARGOSY ENG Ltd 24 Nov 1972 [15 Oct 1971] 48047/71 Heading F4V [Also in Division F2] A ventilator for insertion in a window, wall or partition opening comprises one or more transverse flow or centrifugal fan impellers operable by one or more electric motors, pivoted flaps 5, 7 for controlling air flow through openings 4, 6 in a housing 1, a motor 12 which drives a cam 13 which is connected to the flap 7 by a linkage 15, 16, 70 and to the flap 5 by a spring, and a microswitch 14 operated by cam 13 and in series with the motor 12, the fan motor(s), the motor 12 and microswitch 14 being in circuit whereby, when the fan motor is started, the motor 12 rotates the cam 13 to open flaps 5, 7 and then is stopped by actuation of microswitch 14 and when the fan motor is stopped, the motor 12 rotates cam 13 to shut the flaps and is then stopped by the microswitch 14. The flaps are spring biased to the closed position. The fan motor may drive a plurality of fans through a flexible coupling. The ventilator may include means for air filtering, heating, cooling and sterilizing, e.g. using ozone.
