Abstract

1373349 Extrusion haul-off device MIL Ltd 7 Jan 1972 [15 Jan 1971] 2020/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division B8] A haul-off machine for gripping and advancing plastics extrudate from an extruding machine comprises a supporting frame which supports one or more pairs of driven endless gripping means arranged to grip an article therebetween and adjustment means including an hydraulic movement equalizing arrangement to effect equal movement of the gripping means towards and away from each other. In the Figure plastics extrudate 10 travelling in the direction of arrow 12 is gripped by two pairs of endless conveyers, 36 and 38 acting vertically and 40 and 42 acting horizontally, the movement of each pair being controlled by an hydraulic piston and cylinder arrangement, e.g. pairs 76 and 78, for the vertical gripping means 36 and 38, in which the inlet end of the cylinder of each device 76 is connected by a pipe to the outlet end of the cylinder of the corresponding device 78, and the outlet end of the cylinder of each device 76 is connected to the inlet end of the cylinder of the corresponding device 78 so that equal volumes of liquid are transferred from one device to the other on operation of the arrangement to ensure equal movement of the vertically-operated gripping means towards or away from one another.
