Abstract

1373259 Syringes M A REUNANEN 11 Nov 1971 52486/71 Heading FIR [Also in Divisions B 1 and G1] A syringe assembly comprises a syringe unit having outer and inner frames 35, 36 holding syringes 18 for reaction mixtures, and syringes 48 for reaction stopping liquid, the pistons of all syringes being movable by means of a drive assembly comprising upper and lower panels 29, 30, screws 13 engaging body part 14 of outer frame 35 and gears 11 and 12, together with a manual drive or a stepping motor 10. A valve part 42 is movable by cock 45 Fig. 2 to allow flow of reaction stopping liquid from a tank 4 into syringes 48 as reagents are drawn into syringes 18, and to allow flow of reaction stopping liquid from syringes-48 through ducts 46 when reaction mixture is being dispensed from syringes 18. Tubes 21, 22 at the lower ends of syringes 18 are flexible and may be directed towards the ducts 46 for the dispensing operation, so that the two liquid streams mix.
