Abstract

1372894 Paper shredders SPEED-O-PRINT BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 30 Jan 1973 [9 May 1972] 4626/73 Heading B2A A shredding apparatus comprises a pair of contra-rotatable rolls 1, 2, Fig. 1, supporting discs which are interdigitated. Each disc has two circumferential edges. In one embodiment, one edge 14 of each disc 9 of one roll is radiused. In all cases the other edges edges on one roll, Fig. 5, (not shown) or one edge on both rolls, Fig. 3 (not shown) may be radiused. In all cases the other edges are sharp. Each disc has a circumferential knurled ribbed or toothed or other friction surface of known type to facilitate the drawing of material through the rolls. Each roll 1, 2 has an associated comb 18, 19, Fig. 2, whose teeth are positioned between adjacent discs to prevent jamming. The combs are floatingly mounted and made of resilient material.
