Abstract
1372611 Developing diazotype films KALLE AG 18 Jan 1972 [20 Jan 1971] 2362/72 Heading G2C In a process for developing with ammonia gas photo-prints on laquered or unlaquered diazotype films or on laquered diazotype papers, immediately prior to the action of the ammonia, the photoprint is exposed to an atmosphere which contains the vapour of an organic solvent or a mixture of organic solvents. The solvent(s) must be capable of swelling or softening the laquer (or the film of an unlaquered film) under the conditions of treatment. Suitable solvents are alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, isobutanal n-amyl alcohol; ketones such as acetone and butanone; esters such as ethyl acetate, n-butyl acetate, ethylene glycol methyl ether acetate; and ethers such as ethylene glycol monomethyl ether and diisopropyl ether. Materials which may be treated are laquered or unlaquered cellulose ester films, laquered polyester or polycarbonate films or laquered papers. The layer may be of cellulose ester.
