Abstract
1372530 Luminescent screens TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 18 Oct 1971 [20 Oct 1970] 48355/71 Heading H1D A method of preparing the screen of a colour TV C.R.T. comprises using a stationary light source 21, mask 13, optical system 22 and means 23 for mechanically rotating the system to rotate the light source image thereby forming on the panel exposed portions of smaller area than the light permeable portions in the mask. The optical system may include one or two prisms, the latter enabling the diameter of the locus along which the light travels to be adjusted by varying the angle between prisms, Fig. 5 (not shown), or the angle # in a single prism may be varied. The prisms may be in a metal frame with rollers abutting same to effect rotation and including at least three bearings (27), (Fig. 4, not shown), or may be revolved by fluid pressure. A correction lens used is not shown. Black light absorbing layers such as graphite, and R.G.B. fluorescent dots are mentioned as is a mask to screen distance of 10 mm. The absorbing layers may occupy 40 to 50% screen area and screen dot, mask holes and beam dimensions and pitches are given. In the process, graphite deposited on light-exposed PVA may be washed away with hydrogen peroxide. The shadow mask may be of circular hole type or slitted. The spot light source may be a super high pressure Hg lamp using cooling water or compressed air forced cooling.
