Abstract

1370836 Bundling articles FRIEDRICH KOOKS 14 April 1972 [16 April 19711 17211/72 Heading B8C Apparatus for bundling elongate articles 2 comprises a separating device 8 for individually separating the articles from one another, a conveyer table 10 disposed therebeyond, a bundling trough 14 arranged at the end of the conveyer table, a roller conveyer 42 conveying transversely of the conveyer table 10 and arranged below the conveyer table for carrying the bundles away, a transfer mechanism 46 arranged below the trough for transferring a bound bundle from the trough 14 to the roller conveyer 42 in a direction opposite to that of conveyance of the conveyer table 10. As shown, the conveyer table 10 is a row of screw conveyers 12 which pass the articles in succession into the trough 14 which is of hexagonal form having one portion 18 pivotable about an axis 22 to unload the bound articles on to the. transfer mechanism 46, and a portion 26 pivotable about an axis 34 to compress articles in the trough. The mechanism 46 consists of a carriage 50 which is slidable on a guideway 48 pivotable about and axis 54 so that bundles ejected from the trough on to the carriage 50 can be transferred to the conveyer 42 as the guideway is lowered from a position above the conveyer 42 to the position shown.
