Abstract

1370270 Die and pusher assembly ACI OPERATIONS PTY Ltd 12 Sept 1972 [28 Oct 1971 22 Dec 1971 20 July 1972] 42227/72 Heading B5D An apparatus for erecting box and/or lid blanks includes at least one die D having end and side wall folding members 3 and 5 and side flap folding members 9 welded to the folding members at the corners of the die, and at least one pusher P mounted in overlying relation to a die and comprising a pusher plate 11 fixed to a vertically movable rod 12 which is pivoted to an actuating lever 13 pivoted to support arms 14 through links 19 and by pins 16 riding in a slot between plates 15 and the arms 14. The pusher is counterbalanced by tension springs 23 secured to the plates 15 and to links (24, Fig. 2) secured to the pivot pins pivoting the links 19 to the arms 14. Each end and side wall folding member may comprise a series of angled plates or the rear end wall folding member and the side wall folding members may each be constituted by a single angled plate. The folding plates are adjustably mounted. A blank holding arrangement is pivoted to the pusher P and may include pads (27, Fig. 3) for pressing against glued portions of the erected blank or a stapler. The die D and pusher P shown in Fig. 1, is one of four similar assemblies mounted on a rotatable central post 2. The pushers may be operated automatically by cams upon rotation of the apparatus.
