Abstract

1367170 Operating fire shutters HOLTS SHUTTERS Ltd 5 Oct 1972 [28 Dec 1971] 60271/71 Heading E2M [Also in Divisions A5 and H2] An operating device for fire resistant roller shutters, comprises: a D.C. electric operating motor 12, a transformer rectifier 20 providing power from the mains, a standby battery 21 having nickel-cadmium cells connected to a trickle charger 22 to power the motor in the event of a mains failure, and a heat or smoke sensitive detector 23 which acts on a switch 27 to actuate the motor in the event of a fire. The switch 27 may also be operated manually and is additionally connected to a photocell 26 and timing device 25 which interrupt the closing movement for a predetermined time if a person is detected. An alarm bell 28 rings when the switch 27 is actuated, and a limit switch 24, which incorporates a worm drive sensing the number of revolutions of a drive shaft, stops the motor at the open or closed position. A hand crank system is also provided.
