Abstract

1362885 Dispensing liquids under gaseous pressure AEROSOL INVENTIONS & DEVELOPMENT SA 13 March 1973 [3 March 1972] Addition to 1165081 9925/72 Heading F1R A valve assembly for a pressure-fillable pressurized aerosol-dispensing container, comprises a mounting cup 1, a gasket 2, a valve housing 7 mounted against movement within the mounting cup, and a spring-biased valve closure member 4 having a stem 5, the gasket 2 being deformable whereby during pressure filling the gasket is deformed away from the housing 7 to allow pressurized propellant to enter the container via the space formed between the gasket and housing, and between the housing and mounting cup. The housing is fixedly held within the mounting cup by means of a shoulder 14, the shoulder being provided with apertures 13 for the passage of propellant during filling. The preferred valve assembly shown in Fig. 1 is of the metering type, the valve member 4 when in its closed position allows communication between the interior of the container and the interior of the housing 7 via a narrowed portion 11 of the member 4, and in its dispensing position seals off the housing from the container. In an alternative embodiment (not shown) the valve housing is permanently in communication with the interior of the container but via a constriction which limits the flow of discharging fluid.
