Abstract

1362199 Framed buildings J H ELKINS and D J BURTON 24 Aug 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 41647/70 Heading E1A A building comprises two spaced purlins 1, 2 which are interconnected by floor joists 4 and support a series of A-frames to form a framework for the reception of cladding members 21, 22. The purlins are mounted on piles or pillars 3 which may be hollow to carry services to the building or remove effluents therefrom; one pillar serving to contain a central heating unit. The building may be provided with a balcony 26, be mounted over water or have a car port therebeneath. The purlins and trusses may be made of timber or light angle steel. The combined roof and side walls may consist of boards, sections of board having shingles or tiles fixed thereto, sheets of waterproof plywood or hardboard or sheets of corrugated or plain, metal or plastics material.
