Abstract
1361324 Electric incandsecent lamp THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 May 1973 [12 June 1972] 27408/72 Heading H1F A tungsten-halogen cycle electric incandescent lamp has a fill including a solid aromatic halide. The halide is introduced into the envelope as a solution in a non-polar solvent, e.g. petroleum ether, ether, toluene, benzene or a chlorinated or cyclic hydrocarbon, and the solvent subsequently evaporated in a stream of nitrogen. The envelope is exhausted and filled with an inert gas such as N 2 , Ar, Xe, or Kr. The halide is preferably hexa-chloro or hexabromo benzene. Bromophosphonitrile may also be added as a separate solution or admixed with the halide solution. The aromatic halide and the halophosphonitrile dissociate to give carbon, a halogen and phosphorus.
