Abstract
1360022 Gas discharge lamps THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 May 1972 [25 May 1971] 17031/71 Heading H1D An ultra-violet mercury discharge lamp has a filling including mercury, magnesium in the form of a halide and an inert gas, the weight ratio of magnesium to mercury vapour being in the range 0.002 : 1 to 0.1 : 1. Trace additions of halides of the following metals may also be included: gallium, thallium, aluminium, bismuth, iron, zinc, yttrium, chromium, and cadmium. The mercury partial pressure is in the range 0.25 to 10 atmospheres. An outer envelope of the lamp may have a coating of magnesium fluorogermanate or yttrium vanadate to generate visible light.
