Abstract
1,190,833. Metal-vapour lamps. PATENTTREUHAND - GESELLSCHAFT FœR ELEKTRISCHE GLœHLAMPEN m.b.H. 9 Aug., 1967 [9 Aug., 1966], No. 36608/67. Heading H1D. A high pressure metal-vapour discharge lamp has a wall loading of more than 40 watts cm. without artificial coating and a filling which includes a halogen compound, e.g. aluminium chloride or bromide, which is dissociated predominantly into ions at temperatures above 1500‹ K. Other metal halides referred to are those of the second and third periods of Groups II to IV of the Periodic table. The filling also includes 40 torr of argon as a starting gas, and preferably includes mercury. The envelope is of quartz or alumina, the operating pressure is at least 2, and may be more than 5, atmospheres, e.g. 10 atmospheres, and envelope dimensions are given.
