Abstract

1358367 Crimping yarns; false-twisters BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 22 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 59470/72 Headings DID and D1F In a twist-crimping process, a running, preheated, synthetic, thermoplastic monofilament or multifilament yarn is subjected to at least two consecutive false-twisting operations by a friction-twisting e.g. ring, sleeve or disc, unit and a false-twist spindle which drive the yarn in the same direction of rotation. The single apparatus shown embodies a false-twist spindle 4 and unit 2, comprising overlapping friction discs 6, 7 and 8 one of which is adjustably pivotable, successively rotating the yarn 5. A number of crimping stations may be driven together by a belt 10 and belt drives 11 and 12 coupled thereto and whereby the rotational speed ratios between unit 2 and spindle 4 and also the direction of rotation may be adjusted. False twist extends back to heater unit 15 and a twist stop therebeyond. Unit 2 may be replaced by a friction sleeve (9) Fig. 2 (not shown).
