Abstract
1358326 Steel production VEREINGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE AG 24 Feb 1972 [1 March 1971] 8680/72 Headings C7D and C7M In a steel producing process using atop blown converter, a fluid reactive slag is formed at any time up to the onset of blowing by adding 5-50 kg per metric ton (of metallic imput) of solid Cr 2 O 3 - free slag comprising by weight: - The additive has a grain size of 3-20 mm. Subsequently within a period of 5-20% of the total blowing time an amount of CaO is added as burut lime. The process is used for making soft, rimming, Cr-containing, deep-drawing steels. The slag used has a pyrometric cone fall point (Seger) between 1300‹C and 1370‹C, and a flow point below 1380‹C.
