Abstract

1356434 Cosmetic compositions GAF CORP 14 June 1971 [17 June 1970] 27803/71 Heading A5B [Also in Divisions C2 and C4] Cosmetic compositions for protecting the skin against sunburn while permitting tanning to occur, comprise a cosmetically acceptable vehicle and (in an effective amount to screen out the sunburning rays of UV light) a 1,2,3- triazole of general formula where R 1 is H 1 halogen, C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 alkoxy, acylamido, sulpho or carboxy; R 2 is H, halogen, C 1-6 alkyl or C 1-6 alkoxy; R 3 is carboxy or COR 4 where R 4 is C 1-6 alkoxy or NH 2 ; at least one of R 1 and R 3 being carboxy or sulpho, or salts thereof. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1,220,601.
