1352847 Removing gases from enclosures JOHN KERR & CO (MANCHESTER) Ltd 26 April 1971 [14 April 1970] 17591/70 Heading A5A Explosive or inflammable gases are removed from an enclosure, particularly a ship's slop tank, by continuously pumping a high expansion fire-fighting foam, which does not contain entrained explosive or inflammable gas, into the enclosure so that when the available space therein is filled with foam, foam with entrained explosive or inflammable gas is forced through an outlet at the same rate as the incoming foam. The purging may be conducted prior to or simultaneously with the discharge of a cargo.
