Abstract

1352766 Spin-draw process TEIJIN Ltd 17 Dec 1971 [17 Dec 1970] 58646/71 Heading B5B [Also in Division D1] A method of preparing oriented synthetic continuous multifilament yarns comprises meltspinning polymers into synthetic continuous multifilaments and subsequently drawing. The bundle of multifilaments may be subjected to an oiling treatment prior to drawing the amount of water applied to the bundle being not more than 1À2% by weight based on the bundle weight. The synthetic filaments may be composed of polyethylene terephthalate or a copolyester containing at least 80 mole per cent of ethylene terephthalate units; of polyethylene-2,6- naphthalate or a copolyester in which at least 80 mole per cent of the recurring units are ethylene - 2,6 - naphthalate units; of nylon-6, nylon-6,6 or a copolyamide in which at least 80 mole per cent of the recurring units are epsilon-capra-amide or hexamethylene adipamide units. The multifilaments constituting the bundle may be composed of different polymers.
