Abstract

1352644 Yieldable mountings for ploughs KVERNELANDS FABRIKK AS 25 May 1972 [1 Feb 1972] 24723/72 Heading A1B A universal coupling whereby a plough share can deflect in any necessary direction on encountering an obstacle comprises a linkage between a main frame and a tool beam which allows such movement and which is biased by a spring mechanism into the soil working position. In a first embodiment, (Fig. 2) a hollow tool beam 3 is connected to a plate 10 having recesses formed therein which receive the spherical heads of projections on a similar plate 9. A rigid rod 13 is pivotally mounted on the plate 9 with universal movement and extends through the beam 3 to an element 6 in which the rear end of the beam 3 slides. A pair of leaf springs 8 are connected between the element 6 and brackets 5 mounted on the beam 3. On encountering an obstacle as shown in pecked outline in Fig. 2, the plate 10 will pivot with respect to plate 9, on the bearings afforded by the projections and corresponding recesses and consequently cause the beam 3 to slide axially with respect to the rod 13 and the springs 8 to buckle whereby the linkage is urged back to the working position once the obstacle is passed. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 5) the rod 13 is pivotally connected to an arm 18, itself pivoted at point 19 to the beam 3. A lever 21 is pivoted to the arm 18 and is connected to a leaf spring 17 whose other end is joined to the beam 3 by bracket 23. The lever 21 bears against an abutment 24 which is moved by a bolt 25 to adjust the biasing force of the springs 17. A stationary bracket 15; forming a guide along which the edge 16 of plate 10 moves, may be provided to ensure the correct return of the plate 10 with respect to plate 9. The arrangement is suitable for single, multi furrow or two-way reversible ploughs (see Fig. 1 not shown) and is convertible to form a rigid connection by inserting a bolt on the end of the rod 13 so that it is effectively secured to the beam 3 (see Fig. 6 not shown)
