Abstract

1349941 Pipe fittings EUROPOWER HYDRAULICS Ltd 19 April 1971 [7 April 1970] 16356/70 Heading F2G A pipe fitting includes a ferrule having annular grooves 20 spaced along its inside surface and between the grooves is a thread (not shown) which is produced by a single tapping. Such a ferrule is used in the known arrangement for attaching to the end of a hose whereby an insert (not shown) engages the ferrule by means of a second thread 14 and the end of the hose is sandwiched between the ferrule and the insert. The ferrule is suitable for engaging a braided hose having a rubber external layer so that as the thread (not shown) between the grooves 20 bites into and engages the hose the displaced rubber is accommodated by the grooves 20 and may also be accommodated by spaces 16, 18. The thread (not shown) may be in the region of 9 t.p.i.
