Abstract

1347522 Two-part couplings ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 28 April 1971 [29 June 1970] 11846/71 Heading H2E An electrical connector assembly has a contact retention member 106 comprising a disc 138 and yieldable longitudinally-split clips 144 for securing removable contacts 200. The contacts are positioned in through bores in insulating blocks 102, 104 which are of resilient elastomer material and are bonded to member 106 which is of a thermoplastic material. The blocks are mounted inside a shell 14 comprising an aluminium portion 16 and two plastics portions 18 and 22. The contacts may be pins, Fig. 1, or alternatively sockets (240, Fig. 2, not shown). The ends 146 of the clips 144 are chamfered so that on the insertion of a releasing tool (300, Fig. 4, not shown) into a bore a tapered surface (306) opens out the clip so that an inner tube (308) may be inserted into the bore to push out the contact.
