Abstract

1347210 Electroslag remelting BOHLER & CO AG Gebr 11 May 1972 [19 May 1971] 22047/72 Heading B3F In a process for producing ingots by electroslag remelting in which at least two electrodes are fused in succession to make one ingot, the maximum depth of the slag bath (in centimetres) is 1À8 times the square root of the diameter of the mould expressed in centimetres and each electrode renewal is performed within 150 seconds. The slag bath must be at least four centimetres deep and each succeeding electrode may be preheated to between 300‹ and 900‹ C. before being immersed in the slag bath.
