Abstract
1347019 Variable pitch propellers DIESELMOTORENWERK ROSTOCK VEB 4 March 1971 6015/71 Heading B7V A variable pitch rotor blade mechanism for adjusting and locking propeller blades 1 includes a yoke 8 mounted on shaft 4. Working chambers 7, 7<SP>1</SP> located at each end of the yoke are connected with oil pump 21 and control valve 12 connects the pump with one or the other of the working chambers. Clamp bush 5 between the shaft and the yoke is fixedly mounted for axial movement with the yoke, the joint between the bush and the shaft being sufficiently tight to lock the bush against axial movement on the shaft during operation of the propeller. Oil passages 18, 13 between each chamber and the junction of the bush and shaft allow pressurized oil applied to one of the chambers by operation of the control valve to release the bush for movement on the shaft to effect propeller pitch variation. When the pressure of oil drops in the one chamber the pressure at the junction drops and the bush is locked against axial movement along the shaft thus locking the propeller blades in a selected pitch position. In the embodiment shown this locking of the bush is operated by movement of one or other of limit switches 16 on cam surface 17.
