Abstract

1345814 Sterilization process FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 15 July 1971 [18 July 1970] 33204/71 Heading A5G Containers, e.g. ampoules, are sterilized by passage through a zone in which the exhaust gas from one or more flames burning in a laminar flow air current passes in laminar flow, the said air current being substantially parallel to the flame(s) and having a velocity of flow in the range 0.05 to 0.3 m/sec. In the apparatus described, air enters the sterilization chamber via a filter 2. Blower 1, main filter 3, air duct 4 and distributing device 5; the last converting the turbulent flow to laminar flow 6. Flames from the burner 7 heat ampoules 8 moving along the transporting means 9 and exhaust gases escape via chimney 10.
