Abstract
1343487 Elastomer compositions BRIDGESTONE TIRE CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [20 Feb 1970] 22043/71 Heading C3P Elastomer compositions of improved anti-cut properties are obtained by compounding 5-40 parts by weight of a petroleum resin (which is a polymer of cyclopentadiene and/or dicyclopentadiene or is a copolymer of cyclopentadiene and/or dicyclopentadiene in an amount of at least 30% by weight with an olefinic hydrocarbon) with 100 parts by weight of a styrenebutadiene elastomeric copolymer, the petroleum resin having a softening point of from 50‹ to 200‹ C. and a bromine value of from 40 to 150. Conventional antioxidants and vulcanization accelerators are used. Olefinic hydrocarbons may be aromatic or aliphatic. In examples cyclopentadiene resin and copolymers of olefines with cyclopentadiene compounded with SBR, are employed in tyre treads for heavy vehicles.
