Abstract

1342751 Clamps SOC INTERNATIONALE DE MECANIQUE INDUSTRIELLE SA 30 June 1971 [30 June 1970] 30755/71 Heading E2B [Also in Division F2] A member made of elastic and flowable material and incapable of being bonded between rigid elements (e.g. P.T.F.E. or superpolyamides) is engaged in a space shaped to enclose the member or to lock within it a portion thereof with the interposition of at least one Belleville spring, the member or a portion of the member being compressed in the space by swaging or bolting together the rigid elements. The invention may be applied to the inner and outer rims of a diaphragm 1 or the joint packing 11 of an end-face seal. As shown, Belleville springs 3, 7 and 12 are provided and the members are held in compression by bolting the retainer 13 and swaging the retainers 4 and 6. The diaphragm may be mounted on the housing B instead of on the shaft A and, if desired, may be corrugated.
