Abstract

1341381 Endless conveyers SOLAR THOMSON ENG CO Ltd 5 Jan 1971 [ 14 Jan 1970] 1908/70 Heading B8A A conveyer belt 1 is driven by laterally spaced belts 2 supported on idler rollers 3 and drive rollers (not shown). Along its load carrying flight 18, a rib 5 of the conveyer belt 1 is guided by pairs of ribs 4 formed on the belts 2 but along the return flight 19 a rib 6 of the belt 1 engages the ribs 4. The belt 1 is stiffened laterally by transversely extending metal strips (not shown) but assumes a troughed condition when loaded. In Fig. 3 (not shown) two pairs of ribs are provided adjacent each edge of the belt (1) but a drive belt (2) has only one rib. In Fig. 4 a drive belt 2 has a multi-ribbed convexlv curved surface 8 for engagement with a complementary surface 7 of the belt 1. In Fig. 5 (not shown) the belt ribs (9, 10) have the appearance of buttress threads in cross-section.
