Abstract

1338670 Switch casings SQUARE D CO 24 Sept 1971 [2 Oct 1970] 44557/71 Heading H1N In an arrangement for obtaining a "dustignition-proof" manually operated switch assembly on a panel 10, Fig. 3, of a sealed enclosure, one or more oil-tight switches 26, 26A and an oil-tight manual actuator assembly 22 are mounted on the panel 10 using intermediate inside and outside mounting members 74, 76 having flat faces 106, 96 rigidly engaging the opposite sides of the panel 10 at an annular region surrounding panel apertures 16, 17. In the embodiment, mounting members 74, 76 are cup-shaped, the inner member 74 having apertures 114, 116 aligned with the actuators and providing for the insertion of hollow threaded bushes 78, 80 engaging the external member 76 whereby the members 74, 76 are clamped to the panel 10. Threaded pins 128 inserted through the bushes 78, 88 provide a mechanical connection between the oil-sealed manual operating buttons 58, 60 and the switch actuating plungers 28, 28A. The switches 26, 26A are attached to the inner member 74 by bolts 34, 34A preferably using an intermediate assembly plate 132. The oil-tight manual actuator assembly is clamped to the outer mounting member 76 by a threaded cup 86 having a flange 130 engaging sealing washers 88.
