Abstract

1333046 Fluid-actuated switches REYROLLE PARSONS Ltd 19 Nov 1970 [26 Nov 1969] 57878/69 Heading H1N A high voltage isolator has a single support insulator (10) per phase with a fluid actuated movable contact arm 18. The fluid, e.g. oil or compressed air, passes through passages 11 or 12 in the insulator to operate a double acting piston 24 which has a rack 29 engaging pinion 30 coupled to the contact arm 18. Locking pins 43, 42 engage recesses 55, 56 in the piston in the closed and open positions of the isolator respectively, the vertically engageable contact not being shown. Indicator panels are coupled to the locking pins via rods 44, 45 and visible through housings 46, 49. Contacts 50, 51 on rods 44, 45 respectively engage contacts 52, 53 so as to provide a remote switching indication.
