Abstract

1338530 Detecting damage to conveyer belts BERGWERKSVERBAND GmbH 21 July 1972 [21 July 1971] 34242/72 Heading B8A A conveyer belt comprising longitudinal steel cables 3-6 embedded in rubber is provided with transverse conductor bridges 2 connected to the cables to form electrically conducting loops L1, L2 spaced longitudinally of the conveyer. The belt passes between a receiver R and a transmitter T of electromagnetic radiation, the signal received by the receiver being modified if the loops are damaged by slits in the belt, the modified signal being indicated to an operator or utilized to stop the belt.
