Abstract
1338495 Tubular heat exchangers; surface condensers KOMBINAT LUFT-UND KALTETECHNIK VEB 5Nov 1971 51511/71 Heading F4S A heat exchanger comprises a tubular jacket 1, having at least one curve in its longitudinal axis and containing a tube 2 having external single or multi-start helical fins, and within said tube, a fluid turbulator consisting of a helical strip 3. The arrangement is particularly intended for use as a condenser in the refrigerating system of an air-conditioning plant. The jacket, adjacent the point of entry of the medium to be cooled, may be lagged or enclosed within a tube of heatinsulating material; and the whole assembly may be helically wound (Fig. 3) or it may as shown be of U-form. Refrigerant vapour is introduced tangentially at 5, and condensate collects in a receiver 8 and is removed at 6, a run-off path within the jacket for the condensate being provided by cut-away portions of the helical finning (Fig. 6) or by eccentrically mounting the finned tube within the jacket (Fig. 7). The helical fins 4 are radially shortened at the refrigerant entry end of the heat exchanger.
