Abstract

1336153 Spreaders for lifting containers MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AG 30 Oct 1970 [4 Nov 1969] 51635/70 Heading B8H A device for handling containers comprises a frame 1 which has couplings 2 for connection with a container, the frame 1 being pivotally coupled at 4 to an arm 3 which is pivotally connected to the plate 5 of a hoist member (not shown), the arm 3 being further connected to the frame 1 by two rams 6, 8, and 7, 9, which serve as adjusting devices for the displacement of the suspension points of the arm 3 relative to the frame 1 in order to avoid tilting of the frame 1 in the case of uneven load distribution. When the device is to be stowed away on completion of a handling operation, the plate 5 may be released from the hoist, a coupling (10), Fig. 2 (not shown), is inserted between the frame 1 and the arm 3 above the coupling 4, the coupling 4 being then removed, and the arm 3 is then swung to the position shown in dot-dashed lines in Fig. 1 by means of the said rams about the axis of the coupling (10).
