Abstract

1411274 Luffing arm apparatus UNIC KK 19 Oct 1972 [20 Oct 1971] 48238/72 Heading B8H A foldable crane which comprises booms 7, 10, 11 is mounted on the chassis 2 of a truck 1 and also comprises a cradle 4 having an opening (15) extending therethrough for receiving the second and third booms 10, 11, Fig. 3 (not shown), when the crane is in its folded condition (full line position in Fig. 2). The first boom 7 which is U-shaped in cross-section is pivotally mounted at 8 to the top of a swivel post 5 which is mounted on the cradle 4, the boom 7 being rotatable by means of an hydraulic ram 9 to its raised position, the second boom 10 being rotatable relative to the boom 7 about a pin 12 by means of an hydraulic ram 13 while the third boom 11 which carries a hook 16 at its outer end is slidably received in the boom 10 and extendable relative thereto by means of an hydraulic ram 14. The swivel post 5 is rotatable about the vertical axis by means of an hydraulic ram 6. The opening (15) in the cradle 4 is defined by opposed side walls and a top wall connecting the upper ends of said side walls, Fig. 3 (not shown).
