Abstract

1334781 Electric filament lamp PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 31 Aug 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 40571/71 Heading H1F An electric filament lamp has a longitudinal helically wound coiled coil filament 12 extending between the pinches 13 of a tubular envelope 18 which is supported intermediate its ends by a wire support 11, a portion 10 of which co-operates with wire windings 15 occurring in part of only one turn 9 of the filament, wherein the portion 10 has an inner diameter b not more than 1À5 times the outer diameter of the wire windings and a length a not less than 1.5 times the said outer diameter. The coiled portion 10 is wound in the same direction as the windings 15 but has a smaller pitch. A barbed hook 16 on the other end of support 11 engages a ledge 7 of an aperture 8 formed in the envelope wall and serves to locate the support. An exhaust tube 17 may be secured around the aperture 8 and is of larger diameter than aperture 8. Alternatively, Fig. 3 (not shown), longitudinally extending parts (20) extend from either end of the coiled part of the support to be located in the respective pinches.
