Abstract

1332471 Locks C E MARSHALL (WOLVERHAMPTON) Ltd 19 April 1971 [7 Feb 1970] 5967/70 Heading E2A [Also in Division B7] The locking bolt 17 of a steering column lock is withdrawn against spring 34 by rotation of a cam 30 in the window 36 of a stirrup 33 on the bolt, this cam being rotated by shaft 22 fixed to the barrel 20 of a lock, which has a projection 28 arranged to engage a cam surface on the end of a sliding cylinder 18 to force it against spring 25 towards the stirrup to cause a nose 29 on the cylinder to engage the window of the stirrup and hold the bolt withdrawn. The cylinder is held in its projecting position by a tumbler (not shown) of the barrel such that it cannot retract to free the locking bolt until the key is withdrawn. Shaft 31 controls an ignition switch.
