Abstract
1330815 Animal feeds UPJOHN CO 5 July 1972 [8 July 1971] 31522/72 Heading A5B Increased weight, rate of weight gain, milk production and rate of egg-laying in meat-producing, milk-producing or egg-laying animals is produced by administering to said animal a compound having the general formula: wherein R is hydrogen, C 1-3 alkyl, phenyl, benzyl or -COOR' in which R' is C 1-4 alkyl; R 1 is hydrogen or C 1-3 alkyl; R 2 , R 3 , R 4 and R 5 are hydrogen, C 1-3 alkyl, halogen, nitro, cyano, trifluoromethyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkyl sulphinyl, alkylsulphonyl, alkanoylamino or dialkylamino in which the carbon chain moieties are of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, or a pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salt thereof. Animal feeds comprise a compound of the above formula, in particular 8-chloro-1-methyl- 6 (o-chlorophenyl)-4H-S-triazolo [4, 3-a] [1, 4] benzodiazepine, in combination with a nutrient animal feed. The animal feed may also contain vitamins A, D, B 12 , riboflayin, calcium pantothenate, niacin and choline chloride; trace minerals containing manganese, cobalt, iron, copper, zinc and iodine.
