Abstract

1378617 Triazolylbenzophenones UPJOHN CO 11 April 1973 [5 May 1972] 17336/73 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R 1 =H or substituent; R 2-5 =H, halogen, CF 3 , NO 2 , CN, C 1-3 alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsulphonyl or alkanoylamino, di- (C 1-3 alkyl) amino; R 6 =H, C 1-3 alkyl) and their acid addition salts are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula with formaldehyde and formic acid, optionally followed by salt formation. The compounds in which R 1 is a 5 or 6- membered aryl ring containing 1-4 hetero atoms are sedatives, tranquillizers, hypnotics, muscle relaxants and anticonvulsants, and increase growth rate, feed efficiency and milk and egg production in livestock. They may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical or veterinary preparations or feed additives containing them in association with a carrier.
