Abstract

1329522 Welding by pressure WALTER CARTOSSI SpA 19 Jan 1972 [8 July 1971] 2635/72 Heading B3R In adhering an aluminium or light alloy plate 2 to the bottom of a stainless steel vessel 1 a foil 3 of commercial aluminium of thickness of 0À02-0À1 mm. interposed between the plate and the vessel bottom, both cleaned and flattened, the assembly is heated to 300-500‹C. and the vessel bottom, foil and layer are pressed together. The compression may be effected between the punch 4 and die 5 of a press at a pressure of 1000-1500 kg. per sq-cm. The parts to be joined are cleaned and degreased and after joining the vessel bottom is trimmed. A protective sheet of stainless steel may be welded to the aluminium or light alloy plate by the method described.
