1328960 Pressing pottery cakes J O CIARRAPICO and R L LACONICH 29 July 1971 35707/71 Heading B5A Pottery cakes are pressed by filling a cavity with a mix 13 of greater volume than the cavity so as to form a heap, lowering an upper plunger 1 having a concave surface 2, by means of a ram 3, gradually applying pressure to allow air to escape from the mix 13 until the finished product, e.g. a dish, is formed, and then ejecting the product. The plunger 1 is connected to the ram by resilient means, e.g. a spring, an elastic fluid, or a magnetic coupling.
