Abstract

1328811 Window operating appliance; releasable fastenings JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 19 April 1971 [31 March 1970] 15155/70 Headings E2A and E2M A window of a road vehicle is operated by a motor assembly comprising a hollow body which acts as an arm rest of the vehicle and contains an electric motor 14, the driven shaft 16 of which can be coupled to the rotatable spindle 19 of a window winding mechanism, and the hollow body having latch means to releasably mount the body on a door panel of the vehicle with the driven shaft 16 connected to the rotatable spindle 19. This connection is by means of a sleeve 17 slideable on the shaft 22 and biassed by a spring 21, the shaft, sleeve and spindle all being of square cross-section. The assembly is releasably fastened to the door panel 10 by an L-shaped projection 29 engaging with a recess 28 in the body and a latch consisting of a bolt 31 on the panel which engages with a member 26, moveable by a lever 24 which abuts a flange 18 of the sleeve 17. When removed from the door the assembly may have a tool, such as a buffer, fitted to the shaft 16 and driven by the motor.
