1328639 Ignition failure alarm B WOHLTERS and A T PICKUP 19 Jan 1971 [30 April 1970] 20841/70 Heading F4T An ignition failure warning device for a gas appliance comprises an electric circuit connected by a main switch 4 to a source of direct current 3 and has heat actuable switch 6 in parallel with a visual and/or audible alarm 5, so that when the main switch 4 is closed and gas is ignited and burned by the appliance, the heat of combustion closes the heat actuable switch 6 and the current flowing to the alarm 5 is insufficient for operation thereof, while on failure of ignition the switch 6 remains open and the maximum current passes to the alarm 5 causing operation thereof. The source of direct current 3 is a battery or accumulator and the heat actuable switch 6 comprises a bi-metallic strip. The main switch 4 may be operable with a gas valve control so that the switch closes when gas is supplied to the appliance.
