Abstract
1328057 Refractory lining material BRITISH INDUSTRIAL SAND Ltd 14 Feb 1972 6730/72 Heading C1J A lining material for vessels containing molten metals comprises a blend of kaolin mineral, e.g. plastic fireclay with 10-20 wt. per cent alumina, and a quartz mineral, e.g. sand; the material having a silica content over 80 wt. per cent, an alumina content of 6-10 wt. per cent, an alumina content of 6-10 wt. %, a free quartz/kaolin ratio of at least 6 to 1, a mean particle size of 100-150 mÁ. with a substantially even distribution of particle sizes over this range and a moisture content of 5-10 wt. per cent. The quartz grains should be in the form of angular or subangular particles. Fuel oil may be included to reduce moisture losses during storage.
