1327289 Mineral-mining machines ANGLOTRANSVAAL CONSOLIDATED INVESTMENT Co Ltd 26 July 1971 [31 July 1970] 34893/71 Heading E1F A machine for tunnelling in rock comprises a mobile chassis 1 supporting a forwardly projecting, rotatable shaft 4 carrying at its forward end a cutting head 5 having at least one independently rotatable rotor 8 pivotally carrying hammers 9, such as those of Specification 1237713, free swinging between stops, and means for angularly varying the position of the cutting head relative to the chassis to permit the cutting head to cut a curved path which acts a track along which the. chassis follows. Preferably the shaft 4 is carried on a bed plate 2 that is mounted on the chassis to allow of universal movement between the bed plate and the chassis, which is supported on driven, steerable wheels 25.
