Abstract

1326991 Thermoelectric devices COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 24 May 1971 [29 May 1970] 16684/71 Heading H1K The temperature difference between two indentical cells of a differential calorimeter is measured by means of a thermopile supported by the cells and retained by an insulating coating. As shown, Fig. 1, the cells 1, 2 are in the form of cylinder, the lower halves of which contain calibration heaters 3, mounted within a housing which includes a heating winding 8. An outer thermopile 14 is wound round both cells with its alternate junctions located at opposite sides and an inner thermopile 15 is preformed and inserted between the cells. The thermopiles are then secured by means of a coating (not shown) of aluminous cement. Various alternative thermopile configurations are also described. Fig. 3 (not shown). The space surrounding the thermopiles may be filled with pressurised He or evacuated.
