Abstract

1326870 Boring bars SANDVIK AB 2 May 1972 [6 May 1971] 20293/72 Heading B3C A boring bar comprises a rod 10, and a surrounding tube 11, the rod being fixed in the tube at portion 12, and spaced therefrom at portion 13, setting means 15, 16 for exerting lateral pressure so as to bend the rod and tube in opposite directions in order to vary the cutting radius of a cutter bit 18. The bit holder is fixed to the tube, but in a modification it is fixed to the rod. Setting screw 15 has a graduated head 16, and a second screw (19) Fig. 4 (not shown) is provided for counteracting the cutting forces. Rod 10 may be of sintered carbide, and tube 11 of steel.
