1326164 Transporter vehicles REDMENT ENG CO Ltd and J R LAMBERT 25 Feb 1972 [9 March 1971] 6357/71 Heading B7B In a transporter vehicle comprising a trailer 2 of the type having upper and lower decks 5, 3, the upper deck supports 11 and 13 may be displaced sidewardly and outwardly from the vehicle to allow loads wider than the decks to be positioned on the lower deck 3. For example a vehicle comprising a cab similar to cab 31 of maximum permitted width may be loaded on to the transporter by displacing supports 11 and 13 outwards, moving the vehicle along deck 3 until the cab is forward of the front supports 11, and returning supports 11, 13 to their original position. As shown in Fig. 1, the rear supports 13 comprise hydraulic or pneumatic telescopic rams which are mounted between horizontal links 14, 15 which are pivoted to the lower and upper decks 3, 5 respectively and which may be swung in or out by hand or by hydraulic rams mounted on the lower deck 3, means such as rods 23 being provided to keep the supports 13 vertical during swinging movement. The front supports 11 may be pivoted at 16. In a modification, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown), the supports 11, 13 are pivotally mounted between short links which are pivoted to the upper and lower decks about axes parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle so that the supports 11, 13 may be displaced outwardly and downwardly in parallelogram fashion. In a further modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), the supports 11, 13 are mounted on members which slide directly in or out of tubes attached to the upper and lower decks.
